The problem
Why this exists.
Farmers physically walk to the pump to switch it on and off — in heat, rain or at night. Industrial pumps need protection from single-phasing, overload and low voltage, but most rural and agricultural pumps have none. A failed motor costs ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 to replace.
